Here Comes Erin Gore and Garden Society
I’m excited to announce that Mindset Capital is leading a $2 million convertible debt investment into Garden Society, a California-based manufacturer of pre-rolls and edibles that also just launched in Ohio and is about to launch in New Jersey.
The investment into Garden Society is exciting because as far as I know, I get to invest in the only cannabis company with a CEO who is a six-sigma lean manufacturing expert and chemical engineer.
Erin Gore is a force of nature and one of the few women CEOs in cannabis. Her story is not only compelling, but the key to why I think she is one of the rising stars in cannabis and why she has the opportunity to become a superstar in the industry.
A former division one college basketball player, she sustained injuries to her hips that eventually led to surgery and opioid prescriptions. In pain and having trouble sleeping, she turned away from opioids and to cannabis.
While she was working for Henkel, a large German conglomerate, as a chemical engineer and process manufacturing leader, she realized that she could make her own cannabis gummies. This led to hosting cannabis parties for friends, and eventually she felt called to launch Garden Society.
I believe that what is lacking in cannabis is not limited licenses, but operational excellence. Erin Gore can help other cannabis companies lower their costs, make higher quality products and help partners move faster. These capabilities have led major brands like Kiva and Jetty to select Garden Society as their manufacturing partner. And larger MSOs like Terrascend (OTC: TSNDF) and AYR Wellness (OTC: AYRWF) are choosing to work with Garden Society as well.
Our investment in Garden Society is structured as a win-win for our investors and the company. We invested in a convertible note with a 9% coupon, that will provide Garden Society the capital and flexibility to move aggressively and open New Jersey and explore other options like consolidating additional brands in California.
