Why Gary Chambers Matters to Cannabis Investors
An Interview with the Louisiana Senate Candidate
Cannabis legalization remains one of the few things most Americans agree on. So, why is cannabis still Federally illegal?
In my opinion, one of the problems is that cannabis really isn’t a hot button issue. Cannabis legalization just doesn’t make a lot of people very emotional. And because it isn’t a hot button issue that voters get riled up about, I believe that politicians have instead used it as a political talking point, and that those in power don’t see any benefit to advancing cannabis legalization.
This slowly dawned on cannabis investors when despite broad campaign promises that included clemency for non-violent cannabis prisoners, President Biden has done a whole lot of nothing when it comes to cannabis, driving the whole sector into a massive bear market last year. A recent Wall Street Journal article highlighted the roadblocks that cannabis legalization has in front of it.
What would change that cavalier attitude towards cannabis is if politicians, especially those up for election, saw cannabis as a way to not only drive out the vote, but also to raise money ahead of tough mid-term elections.
And here is where we come to Gary Chambers, a U.S. Senate candidate for Louisiana, who released one of the most compelling campaign announcement videos of recent memory called 37 seconds.
The video has now been viewed millions of times.
But more important than going viral is that it is driving fundraising. The campaign announced that in less that one month since that video launched, it raised nearly $600,000 for a previously unknown candidate.
If cannabis can become a driver of campaign donations and a groundswell of support, it changes the political calculus.
And that’s why I was so keen on interviewing Gary Chambers. I believe cannabis investors would be well served to follow his campaign and support him, as he will likely not only make cannabis a top tier issue, but he will also pressure his own party, and especially the Biden administration.
I hope you enjoy this short but important twelve minute interview:
